BEEF STIR FRY WITH SWEET SOY SAUCE

  • Ingredients:
  • 1 lb beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce (for color)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (or honey)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • Chili flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Instructions:
  • Prepare the Beef:
  • Slice the beef thinly against the grain into bite-sized pieces. Season with a little salt and pepper.
  • Stir-Fry the Beef:
  • Heat sesame oil and vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the beef in batches (do not overcrowd the pan) and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Prepare the Sauce:
  • In the same pan, add garlic and ginger, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in soy sauce, dark soy sauce, brown sugar, and rice vinegar. Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
  • Combine:
  • Add the cooked beef back to the pan, tossing it in the sauce to coat well. Stir in the green onions and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Garnish:
  • Garnish with sesame seeds, extra green onions, and a sprinkle of chili flakes for heat (optional).
  • Serve:
  • Serve over steamed rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.
